#018 ANIMATION DRAWING of MONSTRO

$300-600

After lying stealthily in wait on the ocean floor, a flashing school of tuna at last comes by and the great leviathan opens his enormous mouth and prepares to charge in pursuit. The stupendous image is 8-1/4 x 5-1/2”, rendered in black and orange pencil on a 16-field sheet by Woolie Reitherman. It was said that only Woolie, the second of Walt's Nine Old Men to join the Studio, could have captured the pure power of Monstro. His talent was boundless, as was his energy, and he was notorious for the sheer vitality of his drawing. The dinosaurs in Fantasia were also his work. 1940
