#002 ROTOSCOPE DRAWING of SNOW WHITE
#002 ROTOSCOPE DRAWING of SNOW WHITE
$250-450
Uh oh, Here it is. "Supper's not quite ready. You'll just have time to wash your hands" Snow White wields her spoon as regally as though it was a scepter. Her large image is 6-3/4", rendered in red pencil on a 12-field sheet. What sets this drawing apart is that it was drawn by the animator from the rotoscope image. A projection device that allows animators to trace live-action footage frame by frame as a guide for their drawings, the rotoscope was used extensively in the making of Snow White, but surviving rotoscope drawings are seldom seen. Eighteen-year-old dancer Marjorie Belcher, who later became famous as Marge Champion, acted the part of Snow White in the live-action footage. Disney, 1937.
