I wouldn’t be quite so complacent if I were Goofy. Percy might be munching idly with his eyelids at half mast, but looks can be deceptive, and Percy has his cagey side. Nonetheless, it’s a great moment. Goofy is 4-3/8", Percy is 3-3/4", hand inked on two key levels. The Courvoisier background is unbeatable, the special captioned mat says "The Aristocrat of the Animal Kingdom," which is debatable, and the set-up is 12-field. This excruciatingly good set-up from what is arguably the greatest of all the Goofy "how to" films. Animator Ward Kimball recalled that when the Studio was making this short, they wanted to capture the look of English riding prints. Not only did they succeed, but Courvoisier outdid themselves recreating the look with their wonderful watercolor backgrounds and special hand-decorated mats with decorative captions taken from the narration.
