Each time we feature a Courvoisier set-up of Hiawatha, we think it’s the best we’ve ever seen, and each time it seems true. The little brave just happens to be one of the best characters ever designed and the set-ups prepared for him by Courvoisier are always especially beautiful. See how the boy has a moment of uncertainty after his failure with the rabbit and before he is distracted by bigger game and stands in front of a teepee so well detailed with its drying beaver skin and lacing in watercolor on wood veneer that it seems he could open the flap and go inside. Hiawatha is 4-3/4", hand inked, and has been trimmed and applied to the background. The set-up is 5 1/4 x 6", with hand-lettered mat and label. Disney, 1937.
