The moniker G.I. Joe was derived from the use of the name for the generic U.S. soldier, just as Tommy is used in Britain, the character has become an American icon standing for so much more than a simple toy could seem to represent and even led to the coining of the term "action figure." G.I. Joe was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Pop Culture Hall of Fame in 2017. What took them so long? Let's assume G.I. Joe really needs no introduction and go right onto letting you know this lot contains three items worth telling you about. The first is an actual chromalin press proof of the cover of G.I. Joe, A Real American Hero #72, June 1986, Stiletto, and the second is the comic itself, protected in its glassine cover. In 1986, Marvel introduced G.I Joe Special Missions, a spin-off series which ran for 28 issues concurrently with the main series. Item three is the proof of the cover for #16, December, "Tight Circle." Collect all three. Marvel, 1986.
