Ringo and the pursuing Meanie appear in an audaciously good two-cel set-up from the trailblazing Beatles classic of the psychedelic era, in which the legendary lads encounter a multitude of strange beings in their efforts to save Pepperland from the music-hating and well-named Meanies. Ringo is 3-7/8” and the Meanie is 5-1/2”, both hand-inked full figures on two 12-field cel levels, with master giclée background. Although controversial at the time, the film was a feat of imaginative visual brilliance that in many ways remains unmatched to this day, 50 years later. Subafilms, 1968.
