#136 MINNIE MOUSE from MICKEY’S SURPRISE PARTY
#136 MINNIE MOUSE from MICKEY’S SURPRISE PARTY
$400-700
Produced for Nabisco for the 1939 New York World’s Fair, this was the first Disney cartoon to be sponsored by a commercial product, and also the first for Mickey and Minnie in their current designs. Minnie is baking cookies when Fifi’s interference causes them to burn, but Mickey saves the day by rushing to the market for an armload of Nabisco products. Here Minnie hurries to the piano when she hears Mickey’s ring. If you think this is a beautiful image, you are right. Never prettier than in this short, she is 5-3/4”, hand inked, trimmed and applied to a 12-field cel, with key master giclée background, and her lace panties are inked in blue. Disney, 1939.
