#138 ANIMATION DRAWING of MICKEY MOUSE from THE CACTUS KID
#138 ANIMATION DRAWING of MICKEY MOUSE from THE CACTUS KID
$800-1,400
From the moment Mickey comes swinging, literally, into El Adobe Cafe, where Señorita Minnie is sitting on the counter polishing glassware, he goes overboard showing off his musical skills for her, ending up right here, at the piano, about to strike his first note. The screen-filling image is 7-1/4 x 7-1/2”, rendered in black pencil on a 12-field sheet. Not only was this Mickey’s first western adventure, it was directed by Walt and was the last short animated by Ub Iwerks. It is also worth knowing that all artwork from this black-and-white short was destroyed at the Studio to conserve storage space, so this drawing is historic and rare as well as beautiful. Disney, 1930.
